I am doing a 3 axis mill job and I am not able to change the redaction height. I have changed the Clearance Height, Rapid Plane and feed plane height adjustments and the full redaction height does not change. Would really like to reduce the height to reduce the milling time. Please help! What is going on. FYI, using Z-level Rough and Advanced Z-level finish.
you are changing the right numbers can you post the job?
I was wanting to look at your program file .BBCD file
Eric, The file was too big to put in directly. There is a link in the pdf file I sent which should give you access to the .BBCD file.
Eric,
Sorry you had issues downloading. Please try the new file and let me know if it works or not.

The roughing tool path in BobCAD use stock recognition, and the clearance values are incremental from the top of stock. Use the “advanced rough” and try adjusting the depth options.
Thank you! That did work for Roughing. But it would be nice it something worked in all modes. See my next response.
I created a simpler model and did a bunch of experiments. See attached file.
Notes on BOBCAD Redaction Height Controls.pdf (676.4 KB)
Highlights
- Experimented with the Clearance Plane from 1” to 0”. That appeared to have no effect on building a CAD operation or the simulation.
- Feed Plane also did not have any effect on this job.
- Rapid Plane does change the height of the redaction. But it is not based on the stock. It is based on the object to be milled!
- The Top of Feature plays a role in the redaction height.
- Note: Everything behaved the same when I deleted the 3D generated object and pulled in an STL file.
Then, I used BobArt to Emboss from component. Where component was the stl file.
First, I was not able to select it as the Workpiece.
That does not appear to cause any issues.
