V37 - Issues with tool numbering when importing custom tool crib

Hello, I am using V37 on a Windows 11 desktop and I was just wondering if anyone else has come across this issue. I always have a tool crib file (.mtcribs file) that I just import every job for quick loading of tools I use on a daily basis. But since upgrading my PC, I have this issue now where I import the tool crib file, and the tools all load in, but the tool numbers are random and all over the place, ie. wrong #'s. I can’t seem to find a workaround to this.

They released V37 right around the time I upgraded my PC so I thought it might just be an issue with V37, but after checking older versions I have found the same issue in V36 as well. So I think it is an issue with my PC, maybe with some Windows 11 settings possibly?

Did you try to un check the box Use Automatic Tool Numbering .If that is it I think there is some place to keep it un checked.

Hey, thanks for the response. I do have the automatic tool numbering turned off by default, so it isn’t that…

Hi whitewolf,

Welcome to the forum.

I get the same issue you are getting and then some with tool numbers getting re-numbered. As you mentioned it happens with importing or merging a toolcrib. I still get tools being re-numbered and copies of the same tool when copy and paste a feature from job to job. Also when creating a new tool in the tool crib, after saving the tool it will be renumbered. There are some other instances with the new tool library where tools get renumbered. I did send in tickets for the issues I’ve come across. I suggest you make a ticket and that way BC will know many users are having issues.

Take care
David.
